Environmentally Friendly Flooring
At Michael John Flooring we understand the challenges by all industries to meet and abide by existing and upcoming environmental regulations. The issue of the environment was covered briefly in one of our previous articles, however this article will look at the variety of ways in which the flooring, carpets and rugs you buy from Michael John Flooring have a positive and lasting impact upon the environment.
Forestry Stewardship Council (F.S.C.)
The Forestry Stewardship Council, is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests.
FSC runs a global forest certification system with two key components: Forest Management and Chain of Custody certification. This system allows consumers to identify, purchase and use timber and forest products produced from well-managed forests.
FSC's “tick tree” logo is used on product labels to indicate whether products are certified under the FSC system. When you see the FSC logo on a label you can buy timber and other wood products, such as flooring, with the confidence that you are not contributing to the destruction of the world’s forests.
The ‘’tick tree’’ logo can be found on a variety of our wood flooring products. One of the leading lights for promoting the issue of the environment in the flooring industry, is Kährs Flooring.
Kährs have adopted the ‘’Beauty with a Conscience’’ mantra which personifies both their and our, commitment to sustainability.
At Michael John Flooring we recognise the importance of effectively managing the world’s forests and the percentage of our products that are FSC Certified is ever increasing. If you ever require any information on the environmental standards on of our any wood flooring, our expert and friendly staff will be more than happy to advise.
The Wools of New Zealand brand identifies products which are rich in New Zealand wool and that meet strict performance criteria. Laneve identifies products which are made from 100% natural fibres with all of the wool being traceable through transparent supply chains back to the farmers who grow it.
On certified products you will always see our logo so you know you have found quality combined with full transparency and integrity. The growers accredited are audited for Traceability, Environmental Standards, Best Farming Practice, Animal Welfare & Stringent Quality.
