Proudly Supporting The Matt Hampson Foundation
Michael John Flooring is thrilled to be supporting The Matt Hampson Foundation's efforts to create brand new overnight accommodation facilities at their Get Busy Living Centre.
The Matt Hampson Foundation was created in 2010 after Matt, a former Leicester Tigers and England rugby player suffered a catastrophic accident whilst training, which has left him paralysed from the neck down and breathing via the aid of a ventilator.
Since Matt's accident, he has had one aim in mind – to set up a charity to support other sportsmen and women in a similar position to himself. His efforts have culminated in the opening of the Get Busy Living Centre at Burrough on the Hill in Leicestershire which supports athletes and prepares, equips and supports their transition to living as everyday life as possible.
The centre has become the central hub in the UK for athletes, businesses and charities to come and relax, recover and rehabilitate but as always Matt wants to provide more. For those sportsmen and women travelling from afar, there are no provisions for overnight accommodation tailored to the needs of the severely injured.
Tom Croft, Matt's friend, ex-teammate and long time supporter of the foundation is now part of the Davidsons Homes land team. Upon hearing of the project Davidsons kindly committed to supporting the foundation by building two accommodation units and Jason Glover, Operations Director of Davidson Homes asked for support from their local contractors to help in any way they could.
Michael John Flooring Jumped at the chance to assist. Simon Manley, Michael John Flooring Managing Director, offered our services and personally visited the site to help Matt and his team choose the facilities' perfect flooring.
Simon Manley commented: "When Jason reached out to us, we were more than happy to answer his call to support for the Matt Hampson Foundation, by providing our flooring services for the fantastic accommodation at the Foundations facility in Burrough on the Hill Leicestershire.
"Matt chose an Amtico floor, that we will now be installing throughout the development. It is an incredibly hard-wearing product and perfect for the facilities needs.
"These units will facilitate better access for many people that will now have a place to stay after leaving hospital whilst the fantastic facility supports their road to recovery from life-changing injuries.
"We would also like to express our gratitude to Amtico for their support in helping us deliver the flooring for this much-needed facility, here in the heart of Leicestershire."
